The memory of the victims of the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was honored in Belgorod

“38 years have passed since the accident at the Chernobyl nuclear power plant, one of the worst nuclear disasters in the world. The fact that it did not become fatal for almost the entire planet is the merit of thousands of people in military and civilian specialties, among whom were Belgorod residents. All of them courageously eliminated the consequences of the accident. Many participants in those events are no longer with us, but we remember their feat and annually come to the memorial to honor the memory of the heroes,” said Valentin Demidov.

Let us note that they took part in the liquidation of the consequences of the Chernobyl accident: about 3 thousand inhabitants Belgorod region. 950 people of them died while performing assigned tasks.
