The snake, which was caught by rescuers in the center of the capital on April 27, turned out to be a corn snake; everything is fine with the reptile. This was reported to the Moscow City News Agency by the head of the department for the protection and monitoring of wildlife objects of the capital’s department of natural resources management and environmental protection, Sergei Burmistrov.
“Today a snake, a corn snake, was received at the Wildlife Rehabilitation Center of the Department of Natural Resources. She feels good and is warm. Experts examined it and found no damage. The corn snake is very often adopted by novice reptile owners. They are not always familiar with the rules for keeping and caring for snakes. It happens that inexperienced owners do not keep an eye on their pets and they crawl away. Today just such an incident happened,” Burmistrov explained.
The corn snake is a small, non-venomous snake of the genus Pantherophis. Typically found in North America.
