Sam Raimi, who directed three films about Spider-Man, again discussed the topic of a hypothetical fourth part. According to him, filming such a picture would require an explanation of how the hero ended up where he is now.
Apparently, the director had in mind the large gap between the third part and the hypothetical fourth. Toby is now 48 years old, and it’s clear that completely de-aging the character using CGI is not the best idea. Therefore, it is better to create a decent background for the hero, shedding light on his “behind-the-scenes” activities for more than ten years.
Raimi also said that he did not discuss this idea with the actor and the writers. However, the likelihood of such a film appearing is unlikely, if only because Sony already has a successful line of films with Tom Holland.
According to the latter, active work is now underway on the script, and the people involved do not want to copy the successful ideas of past films. Apparently, this means that you can’t count on cameos from Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield either.
