The European Commission is preparing a document that will allow the transit of goods to the Kaliningrad region. Lithuanian MEP Petras Auštrevičius announced this on his Facebook page.

“A document was born that will allow the transport of sanctioned goods through the EU from “Russia to Russia”. This information was sent to Lithuania. Lithuania is not mentioned in the document, but by default it is clear that it affects Lithuania if Lithuania agrees to it,” he wrote.

According to the parliamentarian, Lithuania has the right of veto, which it can use to prevent a “serious political crisis” in the country.

Petras Auštrevičius sent a letter to the head of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, and the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, EC Vice President Josep Borrell, in which he wrote that “trust and credibility of EU policy are inseparable from the full implementation of sanctions, without excluding the Kaliningrad region.”

The document is expected to be published next week.

Earlier it was reported that Lithuania banned all cargo transit to the region.
