The judge who sentenced Sasha Skochilenko was offered a promotion – Meduza

--

Judge Oksana Demyasheva of the Vasileostrovsky Court was recommended to be appointed to the position of deputy chairman of the Kalininsky District Court of St. Petersburg.

As politician Lev Shlosberg noted, the corresponding recommendation came from the Qualification Board of Judges of St. Petersburg on November 17, the day after Demyasheva sentenced the artist Sasha Skochilenko in the case of “fake news” about the Russian army. The judge imposed seven years in prison in a general regime colony because Skochilenko placed anti-war leaflets in the store instead of price tags.

Previously, Skochilenko’s supporters appealed to the qualification board with a demand to check the behavior of Judge Demyasheva for compliance with the standards of judicial ethics. During the hearings, Oksana Demyasheva did not announce breaks so that Sasha Skochilenko could take medicine and eat, and also threatened the lawyers.
