The court sentenced a lawyer from Balagansk to 22 years in prison for child abuse and murder – November 20, 2023

The court established that in March 2007 in Balagansk they raped and killed 15 year old girl. As reported in 2020 RIA Novosti, the murdered woman was supposed to meet her friend to go to a disco. The girl’s body was found the next morning in one of the gardens. At the time of the crime, Torop was working as an investigator at the prosecutor’s office and was investigating the case himself.

For a long time the crime remained unsolved. At first 2020 managed to identify the suspect. He turned out to be a resident of Balagansk, who at the time of his arrest was a lawyer at the Balagansky branch of the Irkutsk Regional Bar Association. Searches were carried out at the defendant’s places of residence and work. During the investigation, it was possible to collect evidence of Torop’s involvement in crimes committed in 2007 and from 2018 to 2020. More than 40 different examinations were carried out in the criminal case, and over 350 witnesses were questioned. The volume of the criminal case amounted to 52 volumes.
