A court in Moscow imposed interim measures on the real estate, assets and bank accounts of Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov and his relatives. The TASS agency reported this on the night of April 25, citing law enforcement agencies.
According to the agency’s interlocutor, assets registered to Timur Ivanov, his wife, ex-wives and five children, including adopted ones, were arrested. The value of the seized property is not reported.
Timur Ivanov has been in the Lefortovo pre-trial detention center since April 24 on a criminal case of receiving a bribe on an especially large scale. According to a TASS source, the investigation believes that Ivanov received a bribe in the form of various services in the amount of more than one billion rubles in 2018-2023.
As Kommersant writes, according to investigators, Ivanov received kickbacks from the co-owner of the LLC “Olympsitistroy” Alexandra Fomin in the form of services such as construction and restoration of real estate owned by him, and for this he helped the company conclude contracts worth tens of billions of rubles. One of the founders of Olympsitistroy testified against Ivanov.
The head of the Russian Ministry of Defense, Sergei Shoigu, removed Timur Ivanov from the post of deputy minister.
In addition to Timur Ivanov, businessman Sergei Borodin, accused of taking a bribe, was arrested in the case. The Basmanny Court of Moscow on the morning of April 25 authorized the arrest of the third defendant in the case, the founder of the Olimpsitistroy company Alexander Fomin, accused of giving a bribe.
According to Important Stories sources in the FSB, Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov is suspected of treason. This information has not been officially confirmed. Ivanov’s lawyer claims that his client is accused only of taking a bribe.
