They arrived in Ukraine in April

Moscow. April 24. INTERFAX.RU – The Pentagon confidentially sent ATACMS ballistic missiles to Ukraine in March, they were delivered there in April, The Hill reported on Wednesday, citing an unnamed US Department of Defense representative.

“We did not announce that we were providing Ukraine with these new capabilities because we maintained the secrecy of this operation at its request,” a Pentagon source said.

He explained that as new ATACMS missiles were produced and entered American arsenals, the United States was able to supply missiles of this type to Ukraine without compromising the combat readiness of its own armed forces. The Defense Department spokesman added that ATACMS were part of the $300 million aid package announced on March 12.

According to The Hill, the US has previously supplied ATACMS to Ukraine, but in an older version; The latest modifications of this missile allow it to be launched at targets at a distance of 300 km.

Earlier on Wednesday, US President Joe Biden signed a package of bills approved by Congress for additional financial assistance to Ukraine, Israel and allies in the Indo-Pacific region.

The law on assistance to Ukraine provides for the allocation of approximately $61 billion to Kyiv. According to the document, assistance to Kyiv will now be provided not free of charge, but on credit.
