The Russian Embassy in Turkey sent a note to the country’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs due to frequent refusals by Turkish Airlines to board Russians on flights that fly through Turkey to Latin American countries. At the moment, the note is being studied by the Turkish side. This was announced by the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry Maria Zakharova.
“The issue is being pointed out to the Turkish side. <...> The note sent by the embassy to the Turkish Foreign Ministry on this matter, as confirmed by the Turkish side, is being carefully studied,” Zakharova said at a briefing. He passes on Youtube channel Russian Foreign Ministry.
Zakharova explained that, according to information from the Russian Consulate General in Istanbul, Turkish Airlines denies Russian citizens boarding flights from Istanbul to Latin American countries. This is due to the entry rules introduced by these countries. Therefore, in this case, the carrier is guided by ICAO rules.
