“We are extremely outraged and want an investigation”

Akhmat General Director Akhmed Aidamirov told Match TV that the Grozny club is extremely outraged by the words of Sochi head coach Robert Moreno about poisoning and wants an investigation into this situation.

On Thursday, Akhmat defeated Sochi at home in the match of the rescheduled 21st round of the MIR RPL with a score of 1:0. Before the game, Sochi head coach Robert Moreno said on Match TV that on the eve of the match, 14 Sochi players were poisoned. According to the Spaniard, his team was “forced to play,” and after the meeting the specialist criticized the RPL for holding the match.

The hotel where Sochi players and coaches live told Match TV that they knew nothing about the poisoning of the Sochi team.

— A very difficult game, a very difficult victory, extremely important for us. But to be honest, the victory is overshadowed by this incomprehensible situation with the alleged poisoning at Sochi. A very unpleasant situation. For so many years and for so many games held at our home, no one has ever expressed any suspicions towards Akhmat. Frankly, we are extremely outraged and want an investigation into this. After all, the presidents of our clubs are friends.

It seems like we should be happy about the victory, but such a blow to our pride! We found out about this at 18:45. This is an extremely unpleasant situation for us. A team came to us where something supposedly happened that had never happened before.

— Did Sochi contact you with a request for a transfer? Or did you contact the RFU or RPL?

— We were told at 18:45 that there was some kind of unpleasant situation. At the same time, we are not inside this team, Sochi! And we do not have the right to postpone the game! It is not the clubs or the league who decide. But if some real situation arose, then I think the presidents of our clubs could themselves ask for a transfer or something else, taking into account their relationship. It is extremely important for our club to understand the situation. At the same time, if Sochi were really in such a bad state… But they even outplayed us!

— Did I understand correctly that there was a request for a transfer, but at first they didn’t really say what was the matter?

— We were told that the opposing players were not feeling well. Let me note that Sochi arrived at around 13:00 in Grozny. How can you say that the team was poisoned? Still, there are doctors, their conclusions… We even offered them to donate blood.

It is still unclear when exactly they were poisoned, if they went – yesterday, today… Again, if they were poisoned at all, we don’t know about it. I can only speak for my team and have no right to speak for my opponent. But this situation is extremely unpleasant. I can’t say for sure whether all the Sochi players were ready to play or not. But we saw everything they played football,” Aidamirov told Match TV.
