The silver medalist of the 2022 Olympic Games in Beijing, Russian figure skater Alexandra Trusova left the group of Eteri Tutberidze and moved to Svetlana Sokolovskaya. This was reported to RBC by a source familiar with the situation. The information was also confirmed by a R-Sport source.
The interlocutor of RBC Sport noted that the athlete has been working in the group of the new coach for three days.
RBC Sport turned to Alexandra Trusova and Eteri Tutberidze for comment.
Trusova has been training in the Tutberidze group since 2016. In the 2020/21 season, she studied at the academy of two-time Olympic champion Evgeni Plushenko, after which she returned to Tutberidze.
The 18-year-old figure skater is a silver medalist at the Beijing Olympics, a bronze medalist at the 2021 World Championships and a two-time bronze medalist at the European Championships (2020, 2022). She became the first figure skater in history who managed to perform five quadruple jumps in one free program without falling.
Tutberidze – brought up a number of Olympic champions: Yulia Lipnitskaya, Alina Zagitova, two-time world champion Evgenia Medvedeva. Now she trains the current European champion and holder of three world records Kamila Valieva, the current world champion and Olympic champion Anna Shcherbakova.
