Striker Evgeniy Khatsei has played in many clubs during his playing career. Among them are Chelyabinsk Mechel, Zlatoust Taganay, Magnitogorsk Metallurg, Novosibirsk Sibir, Omsk Avangard. As part of Magnitogorsk, Khatsey played in the 2002-2003 season, and while playing for Omsk, the striker became the champion of Russia in 2004 and the owner of the European Champions Cup in 2005.

After his playing career, Evgeny Khatsey was a sports functionary, including four years as head of the Ice Hockey Federation of the Krasnodar Territory, was the general manager of HC Kuban and HC Yugra. Lately, he has led the Omsk Avangard Academy.

Hatsei died at the age of 47. The causes of his death were not reported.
