Nagorny said Russians must make an informed decision about participating in the Olympics

Nikita Nagornywho is an Olympic champion in artistic gymnastics, believes that Russians who want to compete at the Olympics need to make an informed decision.

Let us remind you that gymnasts from Russia could receive permission to perform at the Olympics if they receive neutral status. But they all collectively decided to refuse to participate in the competition.

Nagorny said that Russian gymnasts have been brought up since childhood in such a way that for them the team always comes first. And if the team has made a decision, then it is a general one. If you decide to give up the competition, it means no one is going.

Nagorny noted that Vladimir Putin did not prohibit participation, but on the contrary, said that he would support athletes who decide to go to the Olympics. But the gymnast believes that in this case it is better to return with gold than not to go at all. And if athletes have confidence that they will win the competition, then it is worth participating.

Nagorny also emphasized that athletes should always remember their native country. He said it is easier for those who are already Olympic champions to make the decision and dissuade others from competing. But the final decision must be made by the athletes and sports federations themselves. The gymnast believes that in this case the result will be more valuable, but it must be in the name of the homeland first of all.
