Nikita Grebenkin confirmed on the Match TV channel that he would sign a contract with Toronto and join a new team during the current NHL playoffs. This became known literally an hour after Metallurg won the Gagarin Cup.
Let us remind you that the Magnitogorsk club won the main KHL trophy yesterday, April 24, in Yaroslavl. Our team beat Lokomotiv – 2:1 in the match and 4:0 in the series.
“I have already decided that I will go to Toronto. And I will make my way to the base. I’m not a self-confident person. But very confident. I think this should help me,” said the striker.
Note that in 67 KHL regular season games Nikita scored 41 (19 + 22) points, and in 23 playoff matches 6 (3 + 3) points.
Let us add that Nikita was selected in the 2022 NHL draft in the fifth round, 135th overall, by the Toronto Maple Leafs, for which another Magnitogorsk student plays, goalkeeper Ilya Samsonov.
