The heads of the companies met in December to discuss a new gaming device. At the same time, Bobby Kotick previously claimed that he was not aware of the next Nintendo console
According to court documents between Microsoft and the US Federal Trade Commission, the heads of Activision and Nintendo met on December 15, 2022 to discuss the Switch 2. The meeting was also attended by ActiBlizz director and Big N head Shuntaro Furukawa.
Activision’s head of platform strategy and partner relations, Chris Schnackenberg, sent an email to Bobby Kotick ahead of the scheduled meeting, noting that he expected Nintendo’s new console to deliver similar levels of performance to the PS4 and Xbox One.
“Given the closer alignment with 8th generation platforms in terms of performance and our previous offerings for PS4/Xbox One, it’s reasonable to think we could do something interesting for the new Switch as well. It would be useful to provide early access to prototypes of the equipment being developed and to do this as early as possible.”Schnakenberg said in a letter.
It is worth noting that during the July court hearing, Bobby Kotick stated that he did not know about the technical characteristics of the new Nintendo console.
