At the moment, gaming companies are not obliged to maintain unlimited access to their projects and they have no obligations to users

Electronic Software Association lawyer Steve Englund, in a conversation with Game Developer, rejected the idea of creating an online library with games whose support was officially discontinued for one reason or another.

According to Englund, companies regard such a library as a threat to their copyrights.

At the moment, gaming companies have no legal obligations to players, and they can completely block access to their projects at any time.

In turn, proactive users may encounter various legal problems if they try to independently revive a game.

Almost all major gaming companies are members of the Electronic Software Association, including Nintendo, Microsoft, Sony, EA, Take-Two and many others.
