Fallout creator Tim Kane shared a new video. If earlier he released a review of the series based on the franchise he invented and explained the “drifting” lore, now the developer spoke about the modern gaming industry. He discussed the common belief that these are “terrible” times for video games.

Kane recalled hearing similar statements since he was a child. However, Tim himself believes that now is a “good time” for video games. It was always possible to point out any problems in the industry, because an ideal period never existed. For example, in the developer’s childhood there were arcade halls, which later lost popularity – even then the gaming industry was foreshadowed as “the end.” A similar situation was with consoles Atari.

Many people around Kane in his youth discouraged him from becoming a developer, and later from creating role-playing games or projects in other genres. He also recalled how he was advised not to make turn-based games because they were “niche.” As a result, Baldur’s Gate III studio Larian was released in 2023 and brought its creators enormous success.

The creator of Fallout believes that there is no point in listening to pessimistic sentiments – there will always be people who do not see opportunities in the gaming industry or foretell its end. Even current problems, such as mass layoffs, will not be able to cause irreparable damage to the industry, because fans and buyers of video games will always exist.
