Matthew McConaughey’s character will be important “from the very beginning to the very end,” according to Exodus developers.

When Exodus was announced at The Game Awards last December, the game was introduced on stage by none other than actor Matthew McConaughey. At the time, it was revealed that he would be playing the title character in the game, although more details about the role he would be playing have been scarce since then.

In a recently published Q&A, developer Archetype Entertainment shed a little more light on this matter. Studio co-founder and executive producer Chad Robertson, for example, says that the way McConaughey was used in the game, “will surprise many“

“I think the coolest thing is the number of theories that are popping up about what role Matthew plays in our game,” Roberston said. “We think that using it in a game will be very surprising to a lot of people.”

Studio co-founder and executive creative director James Olen also weighed in, saying McConaughey’s character would be “be noticeably present” throughout the game’s history, including its epilogue.

“Matthew’s role in the game is very important,” Olen said. “His character will be heavily present in the game, from the very beginning to the very end, as well as in the epilogue of the game. He’s just doing an amazing job at the moment and we love having him on the team. Of course there are twists and turns in his character because you know how much we love twists.”

Exodus is in development for PS5, Xbox Series X/S and PC.
