Former NSA hacker and Apple employee launch DoubleYou startup to protect iPhone and Mac

--

A startup called DoubleYou has been launched in the United States, which should help antivirus developers better protect iPhone and Mac.

DoubleYou was founded by Patrick Wardle and Mikhail Sosonkin. Wardle worked for the US National Security Agency from 2006 to 2008 before becoming an independent security researcher specializing in macOS. Sosonkin worked on the Apple security team from 2019 to 2021.

They are both friends and believe they have extensive knowledge of Apple platforms. They decided to launch a startup after realizing that there were few good security products for macOS and iOS. At the same time, both systems are increasingly subject to hacker attacks.

DoubleYou’s idea is to develop new virus analysis methods that can then be licensed to other companies. DoubleYou is currently developing ways to identify any untrusted code in macOS, as well as monitor and block anomalies in DNS traffic. [TechCrunch]
