On September 23, Taiwan and the Czech Republic signed memorandums of cooperation in a number of areas. Earlier, a delegation from the Czech Republic headed by Czech Senator Jiri Dragos arrived in Taiwan on an official visit.
The parties signed documents on cooperation in the field of semiconductors, education and culture. Taiwan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the signing of the memorandums marked a turning point in the relationship between the two sides, which share the common values of democracy and freedom.
The signing ceremony was attended by Deputy Foreign Minister Yu Da-lei, Deputy Council for Science and Technology Affairs Lin Ming-chun, as well as members of the Czech delegation.
Deputy Minister Yu Da-lei said that the signing of bilateral memorandums is a significant milestone in relations between Taiwan and the Czech Republic.
“Taiwan and the Czech Republic are partners that share the ideas of democracy, human rights and freedom. Faced with the danger posed by authoritarianism, these agreements will strengthen the democratic supply chain. We believe that through the efforts of all, we will be able to protect the democratic values and way of life that are dear to us.”Yu Da-lei said.
