Parents’ spending on school meals in the capital of Vladimirskaya will increase from October 1: due to rising food prices, the authorities agreed to raise the price of lunches and breakfasts in schools
The mayor’s office of the city of Vladimir confirmed the information voiced at school parent meetings: from October 1, children will have to pay more for meals in schools. Breakfasts and lunches will equally rise in price by 10 rubles and will now cost 50 rubles tomorrow and 60 rubles for lunch.
The last time school food went up in price in the capital of the Vladimir Region was in 2019. Then there was the first wave of coronavirus with total quarantine – the children sitting on the remote received food “in kind” or monetary compensation, however, food and money were distributed only to needy families and children from among the beneficiaries, that is, those who ate at school for free.
On September 1, 2020, when the authorities nevertheless allowed schools to open, parents were unpleasantly surprised by the message that the price of school breakfasts would increase, and immediately by a third – from 40 to 60 rubles. But the information turned out to be premature, in the mayor’s office of Vladimir it was almost immediately refuted.
This time, the rise in the price of school lunches and breakfasts will definitely happen. As explained in the mayor’s office of Vladimir, the municipality delayed this decision to the last. But the rise in food prices no longer makes it possible to maintain a range of dishes and a set of ingredients for preparing school meals determined by Rospotrebnadzor. By the way, Vladimir residents have already begun to complain about the decline in the quality of school meals in social networks.
The Orange House believes that the rise in prices by 10 rubles will not hit the wallets of Vladimir residents much, but will help maintain the school canteen menu at a high quality level. Recall that last year all schools in Vladimir switched to electronic payment for school meals – parents transfer money to the student’s card. This causes some dissatisfaction, because the operator of the electronic payment system charges its own percentage.
As before, the elementary school eats for free – children who study in the 1st shift have breakfast at the budget expense (although if there is an after-school, you have to pay for lunches), those who study in the second shift dine for free.
Free breakfast and lunch are provided:
elementary school students attending municipal educational institutions as part of the main program or attending an extended day group for at least 8 hours a day, from the category of low-income families with an average per capita income not exceeding the subsistence level per capita established in the Vladimir region;

Free breakfast or lunch (optional) is provided to students in grades 5-11:
from low-income families with an average per capita income not exceeding the subsistence minimum per capita established for the Vladimir Region, including those who are home-schooled;
whose parents are invalids of groups I and II;
recognized as disabled.
