--

Rapper from Krasnodar Ivan Petunin, known as Walkie, committed suicide in protest against the war in Ukraine. He was 27 years old.

The death of the musician is reported by the publication 93.ru. Before his death, Petunin published a video message on his Telegram channel in which he explained the reasons for this step.

“Yes, I have a reprieve from mobilization due to the fact that I was lying in the PND, but it seems to me that in the coming days the partial mobilization will turn into a full mobilization: I have two arms, two legs and an index finger to pull the trigger , and they will give me some machine gun. I have no right to pull the trigger. I am not ready to take up arms and kill my own kind, “he said.

Suicide he called “a way to express his final protest.”

  • On September 21, President Putin announced a mobilization in Russia, calling it “partial”. The authorities have announced plans to recruit 300,000 reservists who have served and have combat experience. These allegations are not spelled out in the official decree on mobilization, and since the first day of its implementation, there have been reports from different regions of violation of the declared restrictions. According to media reports, the authorities plan to mobilize more than a million citizens for the war with Ukraine.
  • After the announcement of the mobilization, protests took place in the country. In Krasnodar, 100-150 people took part in the protests on September 21, and about 30 people on September 24.
  • In the week following Russian President Vladimir Putin’s announcement of a “partial” mobilization, more than 400 residents of the region approached the Kuban Anti-War Committee with questions about how to avoid being forced to go to the front.
