About $6 billion that was unfrozen as part of a prisoner swap deal with the United States has arrived in bank accounts in Iran. This was stated by the head of the Central Bank of the Islamic Republic, Mohammad Farzin.
“Yesterday we received an official letter from the Qatari authorities that the accounts of six Iranian banks have been activated, today an amount equivalent to € 5,573,492,000 (about $ 5.9 billion) was received in the Iranian bank accounts in two Qatari banks. Red.),” the Tasnim agency quotes Farzin.
On August 10, all funds were transferred from South Korea to the account of the Swiss Central Bank for conversion into euros, noted the head of the Iranian Central Bank.
A Qatari plane carrying Americans released under the agreement took off from Iran for an exchange with the United States, France Press reports.
