President of Ukraine Vladimir Zelensky appointed a new commander of the Medical Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The new commander was Major General of the Medical Service Anatoly Kazmirchuk, who held the position of head of the National Military Medical Clinical Center “Main Military Clinical Hospital” in Kyiv. He replaced Major General of the Medical Service Tatyana Ostashchenko as commander.
Zelensky called the appointment “an important personnel decision.” “The task is obvious – and this has been repeatedly said in society, in particular in the community of our combat medics – we need a fundamentally new level of medicine,” the President of Ukraine wrote in his Telegram channel.
“The time has come to solve the problems of medical support for our soldiers,” Ukrainian Defense Minister Rustem Umerov commented on the appointment on his Facebook. He emphasized that “the reasons for such a step are obvious to everyone who fights in the ranks of the Ukrainian Defense Forces and everyone who helps.”
