The Ministry of Economic Development advocates expanding rights for motorists. A new bill is being prepared that will allow drivers of categories A and B to drive an ATV and a snowmobile.
“Category A license holders (drivers can drive motorcycles – note URA.RU) will be allowed to drive special equipment of category AI (you can drive a snowmobile and ATV – note URA.RU) in the forest without going onto public roads. Holders of category B licenses (drivers can drive cars and SUVs – note URA.RU) will be able to drive snowmobiles only on special tracks,” writes “Kommersant“
Restrictions for car owners with category B are due to the fact that they do not have the skills to drive a vehicle with a motorcycle stand. In addition to the Ministry of Economy of the Russian Federation, the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation also take part in the development of the initiative.
Other changes are expected for drivers. From April 1, 2024, changes to the Federal Law “On Road Traffic Safety” come into force. Drivers must take the test again to renew their license. Car owners will also be able to register their vehicles without an MTPL policy. The State Duma adopted the bill in the first reading.
