Moscow. 20 November. INTERFAX.RU – Mining cryptocurrency based on electricity, which is produced using associated petroleum gas (APG), is a promising area of the economy, said Pavel Zavalny, head of the Russian State Duma Committee on Energy.
“A good direction is to immediately turn APG into currency. Very promising. This direction needs to be developed,” Zavalny noted during the Yugra Economic Forum on Monday.
He noted, in particular, that Gazprom Neft launched operations at the field named after. Alexandra Zhagrin in the Khanty-Mansi Autonomous Okrug is a project to use electricity from APG for mining.
At the same time, according to him, mining is still in a gray area and requires elaboration of legislation.
“There is no regulatory framework yet, but we are working on it. I think it will appear in the near future. Mining will be legalized. I think this is generally the currency of the future – Bitcoin and other digital currencies,” the deputy noted.
