Roszdravnadzor suspended the use of the Botkin.AI analysis system with artificial intelligence (AI), which doctors have been using since 2020 to detect pathology in computed tomography images. Kommersant writes about this on Tuesday, November 21.
The document sent to medical institutions states that the registration certificate is being revoked “due to the threat of harm to the life and health of citizens.”
The Intellogic company, which developed the system, attracted 260 million rubles from private investors to create it. The Moscow Department of Health told the publication that they do not use Botkin.AI in their work. The Ministry of Health of the Tula Region shared the results of test operation.
“During testing, a number of shortcomings were identified, feedback was passed on to the developers,” the department said.
Experts believe that introducing AI into practice requires serious technical solutions, which not all medical institutions are ready for, and there is a lack of qualified personnel in this area. Therefore, the machine has to learn, among other things, from images where the doctor did not highlight the pathology, did not comment on the data in any way, and did not confirm the diagnosis.
The SberMedII company, which is part of the Sber health industry, has equipped all adult clinics in the Kaliningrad region with a medical decision-making support system – the smart doctor’s assistant “TOP-3”.
