Matvienko called on the Armenian parliament to respond to the words about the “invasion” of Ukraine

Speaker of the Federation Council Valentina Matvienko suggested that the upper house send a request to the National Assembly (Parliament) of Armenia with a request to clarify its position on the attitude towards the military conflict between the Russian Federation and Ukraine. Matvienko said this at a meeting of the Federation Council.

The speaker suggested sending the request after the speech of her Armenian colleague Alen Simonyan at the conference of heads of parliaments of the European Union countries in Spain. During his speech, the speaker of the National Assembly called the start of the Russian special operation in Ukraine an “invasion.”

“I would send a written request on whose behalf he spoke. I would like to ask the question on whose behalf he voiced these stories, definitely not from the Armenian people.”said Matvienko.

She hopes that the Armenian parliament will eventually voice its position. Federation Council Senator Grigory Karasin said that Simonyan crossed all conceivable and inconceivable boundaries with his speech.

The day before it became known that the first border pillar was installed on the Azerbaijani-Armenian border. Representatives of expert groups of the two countries are now continuing to work on the issue of border delimitation.
