President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko was elected chairman of the VII All-Belarusian People’s Assembly.
The results of the secret ballot, held on April 24 at a meeting of the Supreme National Assembly, were announced by the head of Belstat and the Accounting Commission of the Supreme National Assembly Inna Medvedeva.

As Medvedeva reported, head of state Alexander Lukashenko was elected chairman of the Supreme Council of the 7th convocation by a majority vote from the full composition of the Supreme Council.
Presidential Aide Alexander Kosinets was elected deputy chairman of the Supreme Council.
The head of the Council of Ministers’ Office Konstantin Burak, the governor of the Grodno region Vladimir Karanik, the rector of BSUIR Vadim Bogush, the delegate from civil society Nadezhda Ermakova, the general director of Vitebskoblgaz Alexander Brantsevich, the head of the post-commission of the House of Representatives on legislation Marina Lenchevskaya, the head of the post-commission of the Council of the Republic on international affairs and national security Sergei Sivets, head of the Republican Scientific and Practical Center for Oncology and Medical Radiology Sergei Polyakov, director of the Gomel Chemical Plant Dmitry Chernyakov, head of the BSZh Olga Shpilevskaya, judge of the Supreme Court and head of the Republican Council of Judges Irina Tylets, governor of the Brest region Yuri Shuleiko and vice-governor of the Mogilev region Ruslan Strakhar.
One candidate each was nominated for the positions of chairman and his deputy; upon election of the Presidium, voting was carried out for or against the list of candidates as a whole.
It was previously reported that due to the growth of the BPM in Belarus, benefits and pensions are changing.
