“Contact NATO, send in troops.” Lukashenko spoke about the threat of seizing the Kobrin region

The Belarusian opposition and its curators plan to seize the Kobrin region of the country, declare a new government and appeal to NATO regarding the deployment of troops. President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko stated this at the VII All-Belarusian People’s Assembly.

“At least to capture some, I don’t know why they chose, Kobrin district, they talk a lot about it there. But it’s not near the border. There are some closer to the borders. No, Kobrin district. Seize, declare power, contact NATO, send in troops,” Lukashenko said (quoted by RIA Novosti).

The President invited oppositionists who are abroad to think about their relatives remaining in Belarus.

“Don’t forget that you are greatly harming your relatives. Don’t forget that you have some property here—I advise you to forget about this property already. But don’t put your relatives at risk,” he said during the meeting.

The head of the Belarusian KGB, Ivan Tertel, in turn, said that the opposition is planning cyber attacks on the Belarusian nuclear power plant, critical infrastructure, provoking disasters in production and railways

Tertel also said that security forces prevented drone strikes from Lithuanian territory against targets in Minsk.

“The State Security Committee, in cooperation with colleagues from other law enforcement agencies, has recently carried out a number of acute security measures, which made it possible to prevent attacks by combat drones from the territory of Lithuania on targets in Minsk and its suburbs,” the head of the department noted.

According to him, work in this area continues, but “it is not yet possible to disclose detailed information to the public.”

In addition, the head of the KGB noted that in 2023 and the past period of this year alone, more than 40 channels for the transfer of weapons and explosives from Ukraine to Belarus were stopped.
