The allies asked to transfer the S-300 or Patriot air defense systems to Kyiv, but Greece will not do this. Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis stated this today in an interview with Skai TV channel.

This is how the prime minister answered the journalist’s question whether it is true that Greece is being asked to send the S-300 or Patriot to Ukraine, as the Financial Times wrote.

“Greece is not going to send Ukraine either the S-300 or the Patriot. We have been asked and we have explained why we cannot do this… we have stated from the very beginning that we cannot provide weapons systems that are critical to our deterrent capability. We have surplus materials with which we can support Ukraine, we did so and … we will continue to do so,” – said Mitsotakis, quoted by RIA Novosti.

The above-mentioned air defense systems are critical for protecting Greek airspace and they will not be provided to Ukraine, the prime minister emphasized.

As reported EADaily, Germany has transferred one Patriot air defense system to Ukraine, four more have been found, negotiations are underway, and two more are in sight. The head of the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry stated this in an interview with The Guardian newspaper. Dmitry Kuleba.

In total, according to Kuleba, today it is possible to obtain seven air defense systems that Ukraine can use to protect large cities outside of Kyiv. “Greece and Spain are considering supplies of Patriot, while Poland and Romania also own batteries. Kuleba added that the eighth system could come from the United States. “I think the US Army probably has one spare,” he said,” the newspaper wrote.
