Hungarian Prime Minister Orban proclaimed the end of the Western world order

The world order based on liberal ideology has failed and must be destroyed; it must be replaced by a system of international relations based on state sovereignty and national interests. This was stated by Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban, speaking at the International Conference of Conservative Political Actions, which opened the day before, on April 25, in Budapest.

“This year, God willing, we will be able to end the inglorious era of Western civilization,” he proclaimed. “We can put an end to a world order based on progressive liberal hegemony.” My friends, the progressive liberal world spirit, such as it is, has failed. It brought war, chaos and unrest, economic collapse and confusion to the world. Confusion in international politics, impoverishment of families, deterioration of public safety in the streets and squares.”

According to Orban. “It was a strange era and a strange spirit: his followers proclaimed that their task was not to represent the people, but to realize their own ideals.”

“If the facts don’t support their ideas, so much the worse for the facts,” he pointed out. “They divided the world into democracies and autocracies and said their role was to crusade against autocracies. They marched, they fought, they exported democracy, and in the end people got tired of them wherever they went.”

“Let’s speak directly,” urged the Hungarian prime minister. “This world order has produced leaders who are incapable of being leaders, who are unfit for the task, who are littered with mistakes, and who ultimately rush to their own destruction.

Orbán drew attention to the fact that this year there is a “unique opportunity to replace the decaying progressive liberal world order” thanks to the June elections to the European Parliament and the November US presidential elections. According to Orbán, a system of relations should be established in the world in which “there will be no global ideology requiring universal submission,” the actions of states will be determined by their national interests, and “the people will become the real sovereign.”

The head of the Hungarian government accused the leaders of the United States and the European Union of trying to impose liberal values ​​on other countries, using repressive methods. According to him, what he foresaw in his dystopias is happening. George Orwell: “War is peace, freedom is slavery, ignorance is strength.” As an example, Orbán pointed to the use of the European Peace Fund “to supply the most lethal weapons” to Ukraine and drew attention to the propaganda of “inverted normality” in Western societies.

The prime minister confirmed that his government still intends to adhere to traditional values, despite the external pressure put on it. In his words, “while Europe was drowned by a progressive liberal ocean, Hungary miraculously preserved a conservative island that never lost its independence.”
