A superconductor chip for it has already been created at the Center for Innovative Research of Quantum Information and Quantum Physics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences. It has become the most powerful in the Middle Kingdom and should, according to the developers, “compete with advanced international platforms” in this area, such as IBM.

The device, called Xiaohong 2.0, runs on 113 photons under the control of the 66-qubit programmable superconducting quantum computing system Zuchongzhi 2.1. It is expected to provide cloud access to users from all over the world.

“The chip will allow users from various fields to conduct research on problems and algorithms of practical importance, as well as accelerate the implementation of quantum computing in practice,” explained Deputy General Director of China Telecom Quantum Group Wang Zheng.
