An updated version of the Omoda C5 crossover will appear in Russia

An updated version of the popular Omoda C5 crossover will be presented on the Russian market in the summer of 2024. As Chinese Cars managed to find out, the restyled model will receive a modified design that will have something in common with the Omoda E5 electric model.

As the website editors clarified at the representative office of the Chinese brand, the appearance of the updated Omoda C5 will be made in a style characteristic of the current electric crossover with the E5 index. Accordingly, the interior of the gasoline model should also change. As a result, its design will also begin to resemble the interior of an electric car, which was first demonstrated in Russia earlier this year.

Let us remind you that the appearance of the “battery-powered” fastback crossover, although it resembles its gasoline “relative,” still has several significant differences. For example, instead of the characteristic frameless grille, it has a more “aggressive” solid panel with an X-shaped design. As a result, the front of the electric car looks rather concave inward.

The electric crossover is also equipped with thinner running lights. And its signature “Omoda” inscription moved from the hood to the panel between the DRLs. By the way, depending on the configuration, this brand name can now glow. Similar to Exeed models.

The interior of the Omoda E5 is even more unique. Inside, there is a completely new central tunnel with a sleek design and hidden storage niches. One of them contains a pair of cup holders and a 50 W wireless smartphone charger.

There is no gear selector here either; it is moved behind the steering wheel. And the place of the standard mono screen was taken by a new curved control unit with a diagonal of 24.6 inches.

However, we were unable to clarify which of the characteristic elements of the electric vehicle could be transferred to the updated version of the Omoda C5 crossover.

In the process of updating

Meanwhile, it is worth noting that the Omoda C5 crossover has recently undergone minor updates. Among the innovations is wireless charging with increased power to 50 W and a cooling system. The car also received soft plastic on the door cards, a new red body color and other pleasant little things that were offered by the manufacturer in response to user requests.

— The cost of cars will not increase with the advent of these little things. These are banal standard things that should have been there from the very beginning. Therefore, it is incorrect to take extra money for them,” said Omoda/Jaecoo product manager Ivan MAKSIMOV.

As the brand’s representative office clarified for Chinese Cars, the updated version of the Omoda C5 crossover has already begun to appear at official dealers in Russia.
