Mining enterprises of the Arkhangelsk region will continue cooperation with BelAZ

The corresponding agreements were reached today during a business mission of the Arkhangelsk delegation to a Belarusian machine-building enterprise.

The delegation of the Arctic region to one of the leading engineering concerns in Belarus was headed by the governor of the Arkhangelsk region. Together with Alexander Tsybulsky, the plant was visited by representatives of the largest industrial enterprises in the region: Severalmaz JSC, Arkhangelsk Sea Commercial Port, APPM, PKP Titan.

Open Joint Stock Company BelAZ is the world’s largest manufacturer of mining dump trucks and transport equipment. The main production facilities of the plant are located in the city of Zhodino, Minsk region.

According to the governor’s press service, the company specializes in the development, production and sale of heavy- and heavy-duty mining dump trucks, special and specialized vehicles, as well as other heavy transport equipment used in various industries, including mining, construction and metallurgy . To date, BelAZ has developed more than 550 modifications of quarry equipment for operation in different climatic conditions.

— Last year we modernized the assembly shop: previously, vehicles with a carrying capacity of 30, 40 and 55 tons were assembled here, and since October last year we have been producing dump trucks with a carrying capacity of 90 tons from the assembly line, — said Sergei Lesin, General Director of BelAZ OJSC. — We have maximally improved production using advanced technologies. The most popular is the model with a lifting capacity of 130 tons: last year we sold 150 of these machines, 300 dump trucks with a lifting capacity of 220 tons and 94 vehicles with a lifting capacity of 90 tons. The main market for us is the Russian Federation: 92 percent of deliveries over the past two years were made to your country.

The equipment is also suitable for work in Arctic regions. This has been proven by enterprises extracting natural resources in the Arkhangelsk region. In particular, Severalmaz JSC has been actively cooperating with BelAZ OJSC since 2022. Then diamond miners purchased 11 units of Belarusian equipment, in 2023 another 10, with plans to replenish the fleet of the diamond mining enterprise with Belarusian machines, the carrying capacity of which allows them to successfully develop quarries in diamond mining fields.

Another active operator of BelAZ mining equipment is the AGD Diamonds company. Its fleet includes more than 40 Belarusian heavy-duty trucks.

In addition to diamond mining enterprises, quarry dump trucks of the brand are used by JSC North Onega Bauxite Mine, which mines bauxite and refractory clays, and LLC Onega-Nerud, which mines granites.

During a visit to the plant, Governor of the Arkhangelsk Region Alexander Tsybulsky took part in a small test drive and personally appreciated the ease of operating the equipment. The head of the region noted that it is planned to expand diamond mining activities in Pomorie; there are also plans to develop a large lead-zinc deposit and deposits of inert materials for construction. This indicates the possibility of further development of cooperation between industrial enterprises of the Arctic region and Belarusian machine builders.

Mining enterprises of the Arkhangelsk region are interested in establishing direct interaction with the concern or providing preferential terms when interacting through a dealer in Russia, ensuring prompt delivery of spare parts and assemblies, as well as reducing the price burden on them.
