He also cited the words of Russian President Vladimir Putin from a meeting of the State Council back in 2003 about the successful implementation of international integration projects, determined, among other things, by access to global transport corridors.
The general director of the industrial company Lokomotiv-Diesel-Service, Sergei Gorelov, emphasized that in order to assess the significance of transport development, it is important to understand the impact of freight and passenger transportation on the economy.
“If transport links are irregular or incomplete, limited by the capacity of bottlenecks; if the duration and sometimes the cost of travel and transportation to a particular settlement or industrial center are unacceptably high, then the business activity of enterprises there, the mobility of the population and the quality of their life begin to decline. And this, in turn, reduces the attractiveness of the territory for settlement and business placement – the circle closes, and the territory is doomed to degradation.”noted the expert.
Sergei Gorelov added that the development of regions is only possible with constant improvement of their accessibility.
