By the decision of the Presidium of the General Council of United Russia and upon requests from regional branches of the party, the deadline for submitting applications for participation in the preliminary voting is extended until May 8. Initially, according to the regulations, it was supposed to end on April 25, noted the secretary of the party’s General Council.

There are still many people willing to take part in the procedure as a candidate. Not everyone had enough time to submit documents. – said Andrey Turchak .

He said that in the regions where elections will be held in the fall, over 18 thousand candidates have registered for the preliminary vote. More than half are trying their hand at politics for the first time.

For such participants, the Higher Party School has prepared a special educational module, after which the candidate receives a general understanding and basic skills in conducting election campaigns he noted.

More than 200 candidates are participants and veterans of the Northern Military District. This election season, the rules for their participation in preliminary voting have been simplified, the Secretary of the General Council emphasized.

More than a third of the candidates are young people under 35 years old.

On average, there is a lot of competition in the country; the competition for a place is already 4.6 people. It is highest in Kalmykia – more than 9 people per place. And in Moscow – 8 people. In Tyva, Chelyabinsk, Tula, Khabarovsk and Irkutsk on average 6 people per place – said Andrey Turchak .

He also recalled that starting this year there is another important change in the procedure – all winners of the preliminary vote are required to become members or supporters of “United Russia“, depending on the status with which they entered the procedure.

In Kurgan, where elections of deputies to the Kurgan City Duma will be held in the fall, the period for accepting documents from candidates for nomination is also being extended. According to the Deputy Secretary of the regional branch of the Party, the head of the regional executive committee Rodion Vyatkin, The preliminary voting organizing committee accepted applications from 101 citizens. 85 have already been registered, 14 are under consideration, 2 have been rejected. In September, during the EDG-2024, 67 election campaigns will take place in 40 regions, during which more than 25 thousand mandates will be filled. This includes, among other things, the by-election of a State Duma deputy in the Republic of Khakassia. 19 elections of senior officials, 13 campaigns for the election of deputies of legislative assemblies, 3 campaigns for the election of heads of administrative centers, 21 campaigns for the election of City Duma deputies and 10 campaigns for mass elections to local governments, in which more than 24 thousand mandates are filled.
