Russian Deputy Defense Minister Timur Ivanov was detained on suspicion of taking a bribe, the press service of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation reports.

“On suspicion of committing a crime under Part 6 of Article 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (taking a bribe), Deputy Minister of Defense of the Russian Federation Timur Vadimovich Ivanov was detained,” the department said in a statement.

Details of the arrest are not specified.

Timur Ivanov was born in 1975 in Moscow. Over the years, he worked at enterprises of the country’s fuel and energy complex, as Deputy Chairman of the Government of the Moscow Region, and as General Director of JSC Oboronstroy. In May 2016, he was appointed Deputy Minister of Defense of Russia.
