The medical company SberHealth (part of the Sber health industry) analyzed the behavior of users of its own service in Volgograd and, based on anonymized data for 2023, identified the most popular specialties of doctors with whom patients made appointments for face-to-face and online appointments. SBER EAPTEKA also studied the demand for drugs in some of these areas.
In 2023, doctors became the most popular among service users for making in-person appointments. neurologist, gynecologist, otolaryngologist, orthopedist and ophthalmologist. An analysis of the behavior of service users showed that when choosing a doctor, the most popular was sorting by rating, which is based on the assessment and reviews of almost 2.4 thousand reviews based on the results of more than 26 thousand face-to-face appointments arranged through SberHealth. Also popular filters are: cost of appointment, gender of the doctor and specialty.
Analysts from the medical company SberZdorovye also noted that the demand for telemedicine services in Volgograd increased by 47.1%. Online appointments were most often made with a therapist and pediatrician – remote communication with specialists allows you to get prompt advice, not waste time going to a medical facility, and also helps to protect yourself and others, as it reduces the risk of the spread of infectious diseases, for example, ARVI and flu.
Alena Parshina, physician-therapist at the SberHealth medical company: “More than 60% of health-related issues can be resolved remotely. Also, recently more and more devices have appeared that allow remote inspection. Thus, remote consultation becomes more informative for the doctor and even more convenient and effective for the patient. This development of telemedicine helps reduce the burden on the primary care of clinics and minimizes the spread of viral infections by reducing the number of contacts in medical institutions.”
Dermatologists and gynecologists also took the leading positions in making online appointments. Despite the fact that seeing these doctors is associated with a face-to-face appointment, you can contact them remotely to, for example, obtain information about the disease, get a “second opinion” after a diagnosis by another doctor, evaluate the dynamics of therapy and, if necessary, adjust it, ask additional questions, that arose after visiting a doctor, and also prepare for an in-person appointment – find out what tests or examinations are best taken in advance to make the visit most effective. Also in the top demand among service users in Volgograd was an online appointment with a psychologist.
As for the demand for drugs, in Volgograd, sales in SBER EAPTEK in units of drugs for the treatment of gynecological diseases increased in 2023 to 2022 by more than 13%, and drugs for the treatment of ENT organs – by only 2.2%. In both cases, seasonality is observed in the demand for goods from these groups, higher in winter and lower in spring and summer.
Significant growth is also observed in drugs in the areas of “dermatology” and “ophthalmology”: according to sales data from SBER EAPTEKA, residents of Volgograd in 2023 bought drugs for the treatment of dermatological and ophthalmological diseases by 21% more than in 2022.
However, most of all Volgograd residents bought goods in the direction of “orthopedics”, the increase by the end of 2023 compared to 2022 reached 32%.
