Pupils of the inclusive creative workshops of the “Art Salon-Studio”, as part of the “The Whole Country Together” campaign, donated the icon of St. George the Victorious to the regional fund “Defenders of the Fatherland”. It was written by Kurgan artist Andrey Vankov.
Last fall, Kurgan residents with mental developmental disabilities, studying at the Art Salon-Studio, and their parents organized a charity exhibition of products – they made clay pots, mugs, sets, and animal figurines with their own hands. The proceeds were used to buy paints and gold leaf to create an icon.
“Andrei Vankov took two months to paint the icon. Then, with the support of philanthropists, the icon case was made. The icon is ready, and today we will donate it to the Defenders of the Fatherland foundation. They will decide for themselves where to send it – maybe they will transfer it to the North Military District zone, to mobile churches, or maybe they will keep it,” said Nadezhda Ryabova, director of the Kurgan regional charitable organization “Art Salon-Studio”.
Speaking about patriotic education, Tatyana Abrosimova, head of the culture department of the social policy department of the city administration, noted that today this topic is more important and relevant than ever.
A veteran of combat operations in the zone of a special military operation, Maxim Galaktionov, said that sitting in a trench, you especially begin to believe in God: “When the shelling began, all that was left was to pray. Faith is a fighter’s most powerful weapon. Even if you don’t know prayers, you say in your own words: “Lord, save and preserve.” And he really helps – as you can see, he is alive and well. Well… Almost healthy,” added Maxim. He was mobilized in September 2022, and last year he was wounded and demobilized.
The Art Salon-Studio often hosts exhibitions. The project “Four Seasons” with the support of the governor of the Kurgan region is now being completed. Its outcome will be a May performance and an exhibition of creative works.
