On the occasion of Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, the First Yaroslavsky TV channel launched a campaign in which it invites residents of the region to participate. Yaroslavl residents send their stories about relatives who participated in the Great Patriotic War.
Today, Yaroslavl resident, SVO fighter, Ilya Dianov told his family story:
– In the photograph in my hands is a portrait of my great-grandfather, a participant in the Great Patriotic War, Ivan Mikhailovich Kuzmenko. He went through the entire Great Patriotic War, took part in a special operation to liberate Zaporozhye. For his participation in the special operation to liberate Zaporozhye, he was awarded a medal for military merit. At the end of the Great Patriotic War he was captured, and he returned from the Great Patriotic War in 1946.
My brother, a holder of the Order of Courage, is a participant in a special military operation. From 2022 to 2024, he was in the Zaporozhye region, took an active part in a special operation, directly carried out a combat mission in a rocket division in one of the guards regiments of our country, and was also awarded the Order of Courage and the Suvorov Medal for performing combat missions.
At the moment I am on a special operation; out of duty to the Fatherland, I volunteered to serve. On May 9 we will celebrate Victory Day in the special military operation zone. And the portrait of my great-grandfather is always with me, it is a talisman for me! Victory will be ours!
