Moscow. April 24. INTERFAX – Russian President Vladimir Putin will hold a large meeting on Wednesday on liquidation of the consequences of floods in the regions of the Russian Federation.

“Today in the middle of the day the president will hold a large meeting on liquidation of the consequences of floods in well-known constituent entities of the Russian Federation. Naturally, we will talk about the Orenburg, Kurgan and Tyumen regions,” Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov told reporters.

He added that the meeting will be attended by all relevant government leaders, the leadership of the presidential administration, which deals with relevant issues, heads of regions, as well as heads of municipalities.

“What’s noteworthy is that this time the heads of municipal districts and entities will also be in touch with the president at the VCS,” Peskov said, noting that we are talking about areas where efforts continue to be made to minimize and eliminate the consequences of floods.

The meeting will include an opening speech by the president, as well as reports by the heads of the Ministry of Emergency Situations Alexander Kurenkov and the Ministry of Construction Irek Fayzullin.

“Let me remind you that Kurenkov heads the commission to eliminate the consequences of these floods; the governors of three regions will also report on the elimination of the consequences and the heads of municipal authorities,” said the presidential press secretary, noting that the rest of Putin’s meetings will be non-public.

The president announced his intention to hold a large meeting with the participation of heads of municipalities in regions affected by floods on March 17 at a meeting with members of the government.

“When the water recedes, we will gather in an even broader format together with the heads of municipalities and discuss issues related to the restoration of infrastructure and housing – there are subtle issues, we will definitely return to them,” Putin said then.
