In the “Columns” section we publish texts by independent authors – well-known and not so well-known, but always having their own view on a particular situation in the city, country, or world.

About the author:

Omsk resident, 32 years old

I’m trying to go to a doctor at a local clinic for free, I stand in a huge line, but in the end I never receive the coveted coupon. It is often impossible to get to a therapist: the appointment is filled a month in advance! But it happens that you still manage to sign up online.

I arrive at 8:00, and in front of me is an oil painting: crowds of people, doctors and support staff scurrying back and forth. It all starts with the question: “Who is last?”, otherwise nothing is clear: everyone is sitting and standing randomly. The queue is very interesting. People with and without a record go through one and, of course, there will be those who, according to the classics, will say, looking into their eyes: “Yes, I’m just asking”. And all I need is to get to the doctor on time so that I can get to work later. But even if you strain yourself in advance, the therapist will not see you at the right time. And this is not to mention the fact that many people have coupons for the same time.

-Where did you get the ticket?
– Through the Internet
— And I’m through the registry

The dialogue is short, but so unpleasant. This problem is relevant and concerns almost all of us. While I was standing in line, a woman told me a similar story from the children’s clinic.

“I needed to get to the doctor with my child, but I ran out of coupons. At the reception they say – go without a coupon, the doctor will see you. As a result, they arrived at 11:45 and those who had an appointment at 11:00 still did not get to see the doctor. Why then are these coupons needed at all, if the actual number of people greatly exceeds the number of coupons? And at the reception they send everyone to the doctors – maybe they’ll see you.”.

People without coupons and those with them have to stand in line for 30 minutes to two hours to see a doctor. At the same time, the conditions are by no means the most comfortable, and the situation is tense all the time. Everyone around is coughing, sneezing, getting angry – and just in case one of the desperate ones starts a massacre in anticipation. And every time the patient leaves the office, a new show unfolds: several people in the queue begin to argue about who was behind whom, who is next. “And there a woman in a blue jacket occupied”, “I arrived before the man in green trousers”, – and this will continue until you leave the clinic.

Every time you get sick, you have to fight to get in line just to get an appointment with a therapist. And it makes no difference whether you came in the morning or during the day: nothing changes. And this, frankly speaking, not only irritates people, but also poses a threat to health – in such an environment it is easy to pick up some other viral infection. This is how we “treat one thing, cripple another.”

I have heard more than once that to improve this situation it is necessary to introduce coupons, like in the tax service or Sberbank, hire more doctors, and build new clinics. But this needs to be decided at the state level. In the meantime, all we can do is worry and spend a lot of time going to a free therapist.
