Evgenia Iosifovna’s father became a victim of political repression and was shot in October 1937. Rehabilitated posthumously. Together with Evgenia Burtseva’s father, her grandfather and four mother’s brothers were arrested.
Evgenia Iosifovna said that she had four brothers and sisters, the neighboring children teased and threw stones at them – the children of the enemy of the people. Life was very difficult, the memories of those days remained in my memory for the rest of my life. When an association of victims of political repression appeared in Kaluga in 1990, Evgenia Iosifovna became one of its most active participants.
City Duma deputy Maxim Platov congratulated Evgenia Iosifovna on her anniversary and the upcoming Victory Day, wished her good health, good spirits, long and happy years of life, and presented flowers and gifts.
