Pskov State University teacher, Pskov guide, candidate of art history Tamara Shulakova prepared for publication the monograph “Frescoes – the miracle and glory of Pskov.” PAI was informed about this by the press service of Pskov State University.

“The book is addressed to a wide range of readers: students, students and teachers of courses in the history of ancient Russian art, fresco painting and architecture, MHC, local history, tourism, excursion studies, cultural history of Pskov and the Pskov land, as well as Pskov residents and guests of the city interested in marvelous and mysterious medieval art “the glorious city of Pskov” – “House of the Holy Trinity,” said the author.

Tamara Shulakova expressed her heartfelt gratitude to the architect Grigory Salin, who took upon himself the work of publishing the book.

“In the context of the significant and gratifying transformation that Pskov has experienced in recent years, Tamara Vasilievna Shulakova’s monograph will be an important event. It convincingly reveals not only the history of Pskov monumental painting, but also the spiritual and symbolic potential of the “free city,” which is not always clear to a modern resident and visionary (tourist),” noted the reviewer of the monograph, Pskov State University professor Aida Razumovskaya.

The photographs in the monograph are largely taken from open sources on the Internet, as well as from the archives of the author’s assistants: Yuri Martynov, Evgeniy Shelemba, Alexander Bondarenko, Nina Avdashkova, Lyubov Molokova, Marina Shcherbakova.

The author is grateful to his friends – excursionists, travel organizers: Elena Lebedeva, Irina Ozhigina, Nelly Smirnova, Sofia Akhmetova, Anna Bogdanova, Tatyana Pavlova, Irina Surovtseva.
