In addition to the robbery charge, the man now faces trial for obstruction of justice.

A resident of Novosibirsk, who already has a criminal record, will stand trial for attempting to obstruct justice and destroy the materials of the criminal case brought against him. This was reported today by the press service of the prosecutor’s office for the NSO.

The Zheleznodorozhny District Prosecutor’s Office approved an indictment against a 33-year-old man under Article 294 Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, which provides punishment for interfering with the activities of an investigator in order to interfere with an objective investigation.

The incident occurred on August 31, 2023. The accused, being in the office of the investigator of the police department of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs in Novosibirsk, where investigative actions were being carried out in the case of a robbery he had committed earlier, decided to take justice into his own hands.

He destroyed statements and records of some investigative actions, thus trying to interfere with the progress of the investigation. However, his attempt to avoid responsibility only led to the worsening of the situation. Now, in addition to the robbery charge, he will have to answer to the court for obstruction of justice. The criminal case was sent to the Zheleznodorozhny District Court of Novosibirsk for consideration on the merits.
