Science always wins: an international conference on the ecology of the native land has ended at Vyatka State University

Scientists from six countries took part in the two-day business program of the event, held in a mixed format.

On April 23-24, the “Engineerium” of Vyatka State University hosted an international scientific and practical conference “Ecology of the native land: problems and ways to solve them.” The traditional event brought together hundreds of scientists from Russia, China, India, Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, and Belarus.

The program of the first day included the youth competition “My Favorite City”, dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the city of Kirov. Students and graduate students studying at schools, gymnasiums, and lyceums presented their research, design and creative work. After lunch, the official opening ceremony of the conference took place and the large plenary session started.

It was continued on the second day of the program. The research results were presented by Tatyana Egoshina (All-Russian Research Institute of Hunting and Fur Farming named after Professor B.M. Zhitkov, Kirov), Xiaohui Li and Liu Dandan (Liaoning Institute of Science and Technology, Benxi, China), Sima Sharma (Dr. K. University). V. Ramana in Khandwa, India), Sofia Yarusova (Institute of Chemistry, Far Eastern Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Vladivostok), Yulia Zemtsova (Department for the Development of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning of Sberbank, Moscow), Tatyana Drozdenko (Pskov State University, Pskov).

The work during the nine breakout sessions was extremely fruitful. They raised environmental problems of the regions and outlined ways to solve them; Various aspects of environmental monitoring of the environment were discussed; Issues of digitalization, rational use of natural resources, environmental education and upbringing were considered. The work of sections on chemistry and ecology of soils, ecology of microorganisms, biology and ecology of plants, biology and ecology of animals aroused great interest.

Doctor of Biological Sciences Lyudmila Domracheva, Professor of the Department of Plant Biology, Breeding and Seed Growing, Microbiology of Vyatka State Technical University, Senior Researcher of the Research Laboratory of Biomonitoring of the Institute of Biochemistry, Federal Research Center of the Komi Scientific Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences and Vyatka State University shared her opinion:

– This conference is a step into the future for the youngest. Yesterday there was an amazing youth competition, in which not only undergraduate and graduate students, but also schoolchildren performed. And they did it very honorably.

Lyudmila Ivanovna emphasized: the value of the conference is that it has a wide range of different areas.

“People can hear and see very different projects and reports,” the interlocutor stated. She remarked:

– I think Tamara Yakovlevna Ashikhmina gave the groundwork for the extraordinary brightness of the program. I mean, first of all, her report dedicated to the 650th anniversary of the city of Kirov. For several decades I myself led excursions around the city – it seemed that everything had already been said, everything was well known. And in Tamara Yakovlevna’s speech I saw a completely new perspective. This is the view of a person who, without a doubt, loves this city, appreciates its past, present and future. This is an amazing look.

Among the reports, Lyudmila Ivanovna believes that a special place is occupied by the speech of the head of the Department of Botany and Ecology of Donetsk State University Andrey Safonov. Professor Domracheva summarized:

– The conference shows that despite any shocks and difficulties, science always exists and will be; she wins. People devoted to science are great people.
