Students of group TD-206 under the leadership of Yana Mikhailovna Borisenko, associate professor of the Department of Economics and Management of South Ural Technical University, visited the ChTZ Museum of Labor and Military Glory.
Students heard about the features of managing an industrial enterprise, the difficulties and ways through which this enterprise develops and continues to play a significant role not only in the city, but also in the industry. Students were also told the history of the plant where Victory was forged and the character of its people. The museum archive stores more than 20 thousand documents, photographs, and personal belongings of ChTZ employees. Models of the legendary military equipment, which the whole world learned about at one time, are presented. The popular name given to the legendary ChTZ plant is Tankograd.
The Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant recently celebrated its 90th anniversary. Just like almost a century ago, he plays a special role in the life of the country, which both then and now is faced with unprecedented external circumstances. And the ChTZ museum itself has been operating for more than half a century.
The museum has six thematic halls, each of which covers a different time period in the history of the creation and development of the legendary industrial enterprise.
After the excursion, students laid flowers at the monument to the IS-3 tank on Komsomolskaya Square. This tank is the last model that was created during the war years. Serial production of these tanks began in 1944 – 1945 at the Chelyabinsk Tractor Plant. In total, 18 thousand of them were produced during the war years. The abbreviation “IS” was in honor of the Supreme Commander Joseph Stalin, and the index “3” corresponds to his production model number. This heavy tank was the most powerful and it was one of them that was installed on the square. The IS-3 can be called one of the first post-war Soviet tanks.
The monument was opened on the eve of the 20th anniversary of the Victory, May 8, 1965. During the construction of the monument, the tank drove onto the pedestal under its own power, along a specially built overpass. This tank is still on the move. The words are carved on the front side of the pedestal:
“People of the Urals, to you, whose golden hands forged here Victory over the enemy»
