Reviews of combined fire extinguishing teams are held in all districts of Nizhny Novgorod

Inspections of consolidated fire extinguishing teams are carried out in all districts of Nizhny Novgorod on behalf of the mayor of the city, Yuri Shalabaev. One of the first reviews is held in Sormovo, where the second largest district forest district of urban forests is located. This was reported to the city Department of Civil Defense and Emergency Situations.

First Deputy Head of the Administration of Nizhny Novgorod Denis Skalkin said that on April 22 a special fire safety regime was introduced.

“On the eve of the forest fire season, by order of the head of the city, a plan for extinguishing forest fires in the territory of Nizhny Novgorod was approved, plowing and renewal of mineralized strips in the forest area are being carried out. More than 130 km have already been done. Based on the results of the current inspection, we understand that the equipment and people are ready for work,” Denis Skalkin emphasized.

In total, for the upcoming forest fire season, 313 km of mineralized strips will be laid in urban forests, 137 barriers and 119 warning signs will be equipped.

As the first deputy head of the city noted, in the Sormovo forests, as well as throughout the city, barriers are being painted and warning signs are being posted.

“Also, since April 12, urban forests have been patrolled daily by joint groups with district administrations, the Ministry of Emergency Situations and the police. When fire danger classes 4 and 5 occur, the number of raids will be increased two to three times. Forest Watch provides us with great assistance in detecting forest fires. We have installed video cameras that provide coverage of all forest areas,” said Kirill Baranov, forester of the Sormovsky district forestry.

According to experts, the most important thing now is to ensure the necessary prevention and prepare all fire-fighting equipment.

“At the moment, fire hydrants are being inspected, all reservoirs from which water can be drawn to extinguish forest fires have already been inspected, since our forests are close to the villages. I would like to urge everyone: during the summer season, on the May holidays, when you want to relax in the forest, please do not leave trash or fires,” Svetlana Gorbunova, head of the Sormovsky district administration, addressed Nizhny Novgorod residents.
