An exhibition of works by artist Igor Gumilyovsky opened in the Tula Exhibition Hall. The exhibition includes more 70 works, most of them are still lifes of various types. However, there are also portraits and works on everyday themes.

Igor Gumilevsky was born on August 4, 1925 in the village of Tyunovka, Oryol region, and spent his early years in the village of Malakhovka near Moscow. A painting depicting his childhood home can also be seen at an exhibition in Tula. The future painter enjoyed visiting the exhibitions of Moscow artists, became interested in painting and drawing, which later determined his life path.

“Igor Gumilevsky is an artist who has demonstrated his talent in various genres. His exhibition will allow the Tula viewer in a new way look at everyday things, see in them something unusual. I express my gratitude to the artist’s family for providing the works. We look forward to further cooperation. I am sure that the exhibition will be popular among residents and guests of the city,” said Roman Gavrilin, General Director of the Tula Museum Association.

According to First Deputy General Director Marina Kuzina, his canvases look bright, but at the same time harmonious, demonstrating perfect mastery of color.

By the end 1960s the artist begins to create large-format works in a more temperamental manner. In the film “Day Off” there is a real celebration of color. The composition is based on the contrast of color spots of red with blue, green with blue.

Most of the still lifes are painted in warm colors, using rich painterly color. This varied range of colors conveys a love of nature, a sense of joy and fullness of life.

Started in the works 1970s gg. the artist’s skill as a natural colorist becomes more mature. The exhibition features the canvas “Festive Table”, which contains expressive brushwork, contrast, and bold color comparisons.

“This is the first time we see so many works by Gumilyovsky next to each other. I never cease to be amazed how he managed to create such large-format works in the conditions of his workshop, to assemble a composition on one canvas. He was a man who lived for art,” his widow shared her memories. artist-teacher Tatiana Gumilevskaya. The exhibition includes two of her watercolor landscapes.
